Our Artisans Stories

Akeria Gardner

Akeria Gardner

Akeria Gardner is a 26-year old native from Kingston, Jamaica. Growing up, she had always loved fashion and beauty, finding fulfillment in helping others embrace themselves with artistic self-expression. Her luxury skin and self-care brand, Ameraki Care was born to amplify one’s authentic self and unique identity and celebrate the beauty of melanin. The first year of Ameraki Care’s launch was a consistent struggle for Gardner, but the challenges never stopped her from advocating the brand and pushing it forward. She lives by the philosophy that you cannot be afraid of failure; it is in resilience where you learn the most about yourself. Because of Gardner’s determination and hard work, Ameraki Care stands proud today as a respected brand, beloved and supported by many people.

Trécha Gay Jheneall (they/them)

To Trécha, art is not only a medium for storytelling. It is a form of survival that enables them to navigate the living experience; a companion. Although they identify as a visual and performance artist, and is currently working with video installation and sound, Trécha loves to utilize multiple creative mediums. Their work is informed by Jamaican society and social art history of the Caribbean, believing that a rhythm and heartbeat of these stories can be found wherever they go. In the near future, Trécha plans to earn their MFA in Studio Art at the University of New Orleans, collaborate on projects with people of the Caribbean and black diaspora, and has a dream to start their own artist residency program in Jamaica.

Every month, we feature new artists and their one-of-a-kind products.
